In 1998 “Joe Poulton” was recruited by the Metropolitan Police’s CIB3 to infiltrate and gain access to legal companies criminal defence documents and meetings, passing legally privileged documents to the police. The CCRC are now involved in several of these case.
A main target for police were several animal rights activists, such as SHAC (Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty) and ex miners seeking compensation for lung disease. Indeed “Poulton” (now known to be Derek G Haslam, a half Jamaican ex psychiatric patient who was a Det Con 1973-89) hated and hates anything to do with the NUM and what he terms “Scargill scum”.
A particular incident concerned a Labour party activist and ex miner in Thurnscoe. Pitchford decided that Haslam (Poulton) was exempt from the “spy cops” inquiry, mainly due to Haslam having left The Met in October 1989 (mental illness). Mitting (Plebgate and known to have played a part in the R v Kingston, Reynolds & O’Connell appeal alias the Groovy Gang) seems to be going along with this. Haslam’s role needs uncovering.
He is currently not far from the old county of Huntingdonshire.
