The Spycops story is in the news again. Infiltration and sabotage are part and parcel of how New Scotland Yard dealt with and deals with groups it decides are a threat. Take animal rights, the Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty activists were, among others (such as ALF) deemed to be ripe for an agent provocateur. In 1996 disgraced ex Det Con Derek Haslam re-signed the Official Secrets Act at the behest of Det Supt Chris Jarratt (of Worboys infamy), Asst Comm John Yates and Lord Stevens. Haslam, it must be noted, never formally became a policeman again, and Mitting used this as a reason not to call him to justice. Haslam’s avarice, however, would prove his downfall.

Haslam attempted to have SHAC supporters arrested and then went to the now defunct “News Of The World” to sell images of their being nicked.

Maxine Carr was resettled in Norfolk and Haslam tried to sell her out by obtaining illegally her highly restricted file. Haslam’s son P.C James A Haslam works for Norfolk Constabulary at King’s Lynn.

Derek Haslam (using the alias Joe Poulton) often derailed trials by tipping off the police with legally privileged information from defence solicitors.

Haslam, who hated the NUM went to Thurnscoe and sabotaged ex miner’s compensation claims. Documents proving all of the above will be put into the public domain soon.

Now to a related topic “Resisting Hate” a bunch of half a dozen cranks paid by plod. Niliyyah Rashid (Wakefield) plus Sameed Damji (Wimbledon) along with Nick Raybould who sent death threats to Tommy Robinson’s family unwisely linking a West Mercia Police IP address. Also leaving a money trail are Roanna Carleton and Alice Asheligh Brooks who when not getting paid by Derbyshire Police have the louche occupation of making porn films. They connect to Haslam more recently.

Haslam keeps threatening to sue but never does. After an interview with a colleague of the late Alan “Taffy” Holmes this might change. An interesting weekend.
