We return to Northern Ireland for today’s blog post, with developments in the Stakeknife case.
What are the RUC/PSNI and MI5/MI6 hiding? How deep does collusion with the Garda Siochana/Free State Police go? Especially after the Gardai set up Eddie Fullerton for assassination.
Margaret Keeley, wife of Peter Keeley (Kevin Fulton) is deeply unhappy with the slow pace of Operation Kenova. Keeley/Fulton connects to Ian Hurst (Martin Ingram) a paid source of MI5/6 – Hurst now has a property portfolio (Bolton, St Nexan’s, France and Castelferro, Spain). Hurst uses methods far from legal to make a living, including selling electoral list information back to folks. That, plus his links to Insp Brian Sheeran (dog fights, Bolton) and ex Det Con Derek “what colour am I today?” Haslam all combine to draw uncomfortable attention. Keeley is now in hiding in London and has a new identity. Hurst supplements his income by try to get a walk on part in Leveson Two or any other show in town. Hurst lied about his handling of Scappaticci and is now being found out. The government’s embarrassment may pale when the illegality of it’s actions are found out, that applies equally to Dublin and Westminster.
