After a desultory and insulting “offer” it appears that New Scotland Yard are entering squeaky bum territory. Floods of tears are expected from Cressida Dick, as the Court of Appeal looks anew at compensation for Jonathan Rees and the Vian Brothers. Cunctatory tactics failed, then we saw that it was a case of “many laws, yet little justice”. Lord Justice Males has redressed this, compensation must be punitive.
After wasting £140 million trying to fit up the innocent in the Daniel Morgan murder case plod now quibble over a rightful settlement. As I said after Strasbourg, pay up in financial terms or take damages.
Also, as we enter the roaring twenties, it seems that ex Det Ch Supt Dave Cook plus his minions, may be eating their Xmas turkey in Belmarsh.
