What will disgraced ex cop Det Ch Sup Dave Cook have as his defence when the Metropolitan Police require a scapegoat? He is opting for a Nuremburg defence (I was under orders, I did what my bosses told me to). Tricky, legally, as he is culpable. Merely pointing the finger of blame at superiors such as John Yates, John Stevens, Martin Hewitt and Fiona McCormack will not suffice. Cook is also casting around for Gurpreet Rai. It bodes ill for New Scotland Yard.
Now to “Line of duty” and I am hazarding that the final episode hinges on nonces. Jed Mercurio could do worse than name check Gordon Anglesea of North Wales Police and the Bryn Estyn scandal.
