Daniel Morgan murder – cop corruption behind P.I case failure.

Jon Austin of the “Express” is writing about the Daniel Morgan murder, let us hope, with a week to go until the Independent Panel inquiry report is published, that he makes no errors.

Mr Austin is wise to concentrate on the high ranking police figures who constantly crop up, Martin Bridger (of Operation Tempura infamy), Det Ch Supt Dave Cook (who bungled an investigation by use of supergrasses and maliciously pursuing the wrong target, Jonathan Rees). Andy Hayman (who leaned on Alan Rusbridger at the Guardian to get an article spiked) Chris Jarratt (Worboys, nuff said), along with John Stevens (now Lord Stevens), John Yates and Wood/Woods.

Over on Twitter there was an allusion to Det Sgt Sid Fillery. True, he was on the initial inquiry but only for a matter of hours. Slight error in the cost, not £30 million, nearer to £140 million. Now to motive. Why was Morgan murdered? Conspiracy theories rage, from Brinks Mat and Nikolaus Chrastny (alas, neither hold water) to Morgan visiting Malta and his having an affair with the wife of a solicitor. Serious Morganologists now accept that he was murdered by “person or persons unknown” who were in the Metropolitan police at the time.
