Jack The Ripper.

Now that the Daniel Morgan murder has been cleared up (it was P.C Fintan Creaven who wielded the axe) is it time to have a crack at the most high profile unsolved murderer of British legal history? For a moment, I thought that Cressida Dick, Lord Stevens and Sir Ian Blair were going to fit up Jonathan Rees for 1888 Whitechapel too.

Surely, according to Wood, Yates and Zinzan Mr Rees must be a criminal mastermind who surpassed even Doctor Hannibal Lecter? Eluding five major investigations. Or perhaps Rees was innocent all along and it is New Scotland Yard who are inept? Desperate to deflect from the fact that it was “one of their own” who committed the murder. Motives? Cuckoldry, or the Maltese drug dealers Morgan was mixed up with paid Creaven to do it, or Creaven was mentally ill.

As for Jack The Ripper, much is made of DNA and Kosminski. With a sixth forensic exam looming for the Metropolitan Police we ought to get closure. Personally, for the Ripper I’d like to see the Duke of Clarence theory proven but, alas, it does not really pan out.
