Ex DAC John Grieve did a re-investigation of the Lawrence murder. He tried all sorts of methods including bugged golf trolley, use of Soviet submarine, etc. Given all the expensive enterprise, why did he not submit the suspect’s clothing for examination? He would have found the evidence he sought. An oversight?
The initial team correctly packaged the items of clothing from where over 20 years later the evidence to convict two of the murderers was found. Thus it was there for Grieve to do the same.
He was heavily critical of the first Lawrence investigation yet failed to do basic matters himself.
