There are a few connections in these two as yet unsolved high profile cases, the identity of the killer of Daniel Morgan is far nearer being proven than that of Jill Dando.
Firstly, Hamish Campbell played a role in both. Gross incompetence was the hallmark of the Morgan murder (and that of Dando).
Barry George was the sole prime suspect in the Dando case, to the detriment of other lines of enquiry. Jonathan Rees was the scapegoat in the Morgan murder.
The PIRA played no part in either, fanciful theories overtook real investigation.
Jacqui Hames knew Jill Dando well. Jacqui Hames was also married to disgraced ex Det Ch Supt Dave Cook. Cook attempted to fit up Rees and others in the Morgan murder.
Ex P.C Fintan Creaven (Z31) in all probability committed the Morgan murder. Still no publishing of his DNA results. Motive – adultery or missing package belonging to the Bonnici drugs cartel, Gozo.
